James Aspey (co-host)
James Aspey is a 29 year old vegan, peace activist from Sydney, Australia. At 17 he was diagnosed with leukaemia and told he had 6 weeks to live. He survived the cancer after 3 years of chemotherapy and started working as a personal trainer. In his 7th year of personal training while working on a cruise ship he met a wise Indian man who told him eating animals is bad karma. James went vegetarian for a 7 day experiment and felt great. After learning about the many health benefits he decided to stick with it. Upon more research he discovered the shocking and violent truth of what is being done to animals for food, clothing, entertainment and medical testing and decided the only way to live in alignment with his values of kindness, justice and respect was to become vegan. James’ first major form of activism was a 365 day vow of silence used to raise awareness for animals and promote peace over violence. He broke his vow on Australia’s most popular morning TV show and since then has given nearly 100 free talks on his journey and the many things he has learned.

Haans Siver (co-host)Haans has spent most of her life helping the voiceless but it wasn’t until 2009 when she discovered the slaughter of the dolphins in Taiji that her path really unfolded. At the time she was a nightclub owner. After doing many months of research she realised there are more problems out there than anyone can imagine. Deciding to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem, Haans left her venue and became a private investigator, vegan and animal rights activist using her PI license to help get undercover footage in saleyards and chicken sheds.

Wyanda Lublink
Wyanda Lublink was born in The Netherlands but now lives in beautiful Agnes Water in Australia. She has always had a passion for all animals, especially caring for the injured and orphaned ones.
Having worked in both the Royal Dutch Navy and Royal Australian Navy Wyanda has always been on the ocean. After leaving the Navy I worked as a Wildlife Carer in the Australian bush. For 3 years she volunteered at a wildlife shelter in Victoria and although unpaid, it was the best job she ever had. Being able to rescue, rehab and release animals gave Wyanda the best feeling in the world. Wyanda loves living in the Australian bush being surrounded by Australian’s beautiful wildlife, but she really started to miss the ocean. So Wyanda moved to Queensland to work as a skipper and diving instructor. However, these jobs did not give her any satisfaction. She started looking for another job where she could combine her skills as a skipper and still save animals. Sea Shepherd was the answer to her dreams. Working on the oceans and saving precious animals from illegal and unnecessary slaughter sounded exactly what she wanted to do. So Wyanda applied and within no time, was on her way to her first campaign in Africa. Now 3 years later she has done several campaigns for Sea Shepherd. As First Officer she served on the Jairo Mora Sandoval in Africa preparing for Operation Sunu Gaal and on the Sam Simon in Antarctica during Operation Relentless and Operation Icefish. Wyanda was Captain on the Brigitte Bardot during the fundraiser tour in France and Italy and during operation Sleppid Grindini. After that she became captain on the Steve Irwin for operation Jeedara and is now getting the Steve Irwin and her crew ready for Operation Nemesis. Wyanda feels that Sea Shepherd is really making a difference and that is what is important. “I am very proud of what I am doing. I wouldn’t want to do anything else!!” |
